Social groups - Whakawhanaungatanga

Fishing off Kāpiti Island.

Authentic, trust-based relationships

Regular events are an integral part of our peer support service. Each month we take our peers on a different group activity, which is not only great fun - it promotes a sense of community between survivors.

Some of our recent highlights have been bowling, laser tag, bird watching on Kāpiti Island, and our much-anticipated annual fishing trip.

Learning to trust again can be difficult for survivors, and that can leave us feeling isolated and alone. Connection and community are vital to our wellbeing, so these groups are all about building a strong community. Social ties provide an integral support system, by establishing a network of compassionate individuals and building a meaningful community.

We know what you've been through, because we've all walked in your shoes.

Our groups help develop authentic, trust-based relationships that support our peers with empathy, understanding, encouragement and hope on their journey towards wellbeing.

We're always planning our next event, so let us know if you have any great ideas - or if you're a member of our peer support network we'll let you know what's coming up!
